REX Game Studios haben verlauten lassen, dass die Arbeiten an REX Essential Plus vollendet seien. In dieser finalen Version von REX Essential, werden alle Updates und Fixes des Service Pack 1, einige Verbesserungen, so wie neue Funktionen enthalten sein. Außerdem wird nach dem Release ein Support via Skype möglich sein, sodass man das volle Potenzial von Essential Plus auch wirklich ausschöpfen kann.
Laut Entwickler werden u.a. folgende neue Features zur Verfügung stehen:
- new process to download archived weather from the REX EDGE data servers.
- new synoptic and micro weather station processes which allows for trans-oceanic flights utilizing real weather. [...]
- Weather Engine Plus, a new second weather engine mode utilizing the WEATHER THEME process to inject weather into FSX/P3D. [...] …including real winds and temperatures aloft, archive, and random weather.
- a new Download Center, which allow REX Game Studios to provide new FSX/P3D content to our user base in a timely manner.
- New Database Maintenance Tool which gives the user the option to optimize the database.
- The Flight Center to include temperatures aloft as well as winds aloft on the interface and within the NAV LOG.
- Flight Center with updated current SIDS/STARS/Intersections/Waypoints for better representation of flight plans.
